The Power of Prayer and Praise

Is anyone among you suffering? He must pray. Is anyone joyful? He is to sing praises [to God].
James 5:13

Glory, adoration and honour be unto God for this beautiful day and the opportunity to rejoice and be glad in it.

Thanks be to God these two powerful weapons are available to the Christian. Prayer and Praise equips the child of God to handle the battles of life.

Apostle James recommends prayer when one is suffering and praise when joyful. These could be combined for effective results.

As we pray and praise, may the Lord hear us, may we be changed, may we hear from God and may the Lord have His way in our lives.

May our prayer and praise reach the heavens and return tangible results to us in Jesus Mighty name. The Faithful God is coming through in Jesus name. Amen.

Do you need Wisdom? Ask God who freely gives

If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him.

Glory and honour be to God for this beautiful day. The joy of the Lord be with you throughout your day and cause your day to be prosperous.

The bible says that Wisdom is the principal thing! You cannot survive in this life without wisdom. Thanks be to God who is ever ready to provide the wisdom we need for our lives.

Wisdom is the right application of knowledge that we have acquired.

Today’s scripture says that we should ask God for the wisdom we need so that we can take proper decisions that will guide our lives. It should not be for only major decisions in life but all the little things that we need guidance, let’s ask God for Wisdom.

He is a benevolent God who will give the wisdom generously without rebuke or blame. May we go freely to God for Wisdom to make our daily living smooth!

May Wisdom dwell with us throughout this life, May it be tied around our necks and placed in our hearts and minds so all our steps and decisions are guided by it in Jesus Mighty name. Amen.

To know the right thing and not do is Sin

So any person who knows what is right to do but does not do it, to him it is sin.

Today’s scripture draws our minds to the fact that it is not only the bad things we do that are sinful. We also sin by not doing what we know is right to do.

The scripture therefore makes it clear that both acts of commission and omission are a sin in the presence of God. So if I know someone has committed any offence and is being looked for and I keep quiet, have I sinned?

Anytime we refuse to do what is right in the sight of God, it is considered a sin according to the scripture of the day. We need God’s grace to strive to do right at all times.

Lord Jesus help us to abide by the Word of God so that we avoid both sins of commission and omission in Jesus Mighty name. Be our guide so we can discern and do right in Jesus name. Amen.

Count it all Joy when you face trials

Consider it nothing but joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials. Be assured that the testing of your faith [through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace].

Count it all joy is to encourage us to see the positive things when we face trials or encounter temptations. Instead of being in a state of despair and giving up on life, we should know that this is strengthening our faith for the Christian journey ahead. Make a conscious decision to survive any trials and tribulations that come our way.

The joy will give us hope and fortitude to stand so we receive the grace of God that will enable us to stand in the midst of the difficult situation.

That is the testing of our faith for endurance, it results in our growth spiritually and mentally. We come out stronger and with testimonies to share and even encourage those who may be going through challenges.

May the Lord help us to overcome every trial we encounter to come out as better people strengthened in faith to be a blessing to our generation. Count it all joy!

Submit to God, Resist the devil and he will flee

So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you.

God has empowered us to be His ambassadors here on earth, His authority and power is given to us once we recognise and acknowledge His Lordship. Our submission to Him and His authority gives us the power over the works of the enemy.

The scripture says that we should resist the devil, this is only possible when we have fully surrendered to the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit is at work within us. Make that firm decision and keep the devil out of your life.

Jesus Christ has already won the victory for us and what is required is to surrender our lives to totally to Him.

May we overcome and conquer every challenge the enemy may bring our way. Stand firm and resist the devil in Jesus Mighty name. May the power of the Holy Spirit work within us as overcomers and conquerors in Jesus Mighty name. Amen.

Every Good and Perfect Gift comes from Above

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes].

We acknowledge your goodness Most High God for embarrassing us with unique and diverse gifts starting with the gift of life. Thank you Father for being that perfect gift to us.

Beloved, connect yourself to the Heavenly Father and be well positioned to receive from the Father of Lights who freely gives to His children.

May we be properly positioned to receive the good and Perfect gifts that the Father is ready to give out. May we not miss out on such a valuable package that comes from our Master and Saviour Jesus Christ. Thank you Father for the good, better and best gifts that are on the way. Amen

Confess to one another and Pray for one another

Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God–it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].

Apostle James is charging us to desist from living an isolated life in our “one corner” but to open up to our trusted fellow brethren. The scripture charges us to confess or share our weaknesses or erroneous acts with other believers so we may obtain their support.

The key portion of the scripture makes reference to prayer for each other. We need to support each other in the period of weakness and not receive the brother or sister ‘s confession for “broadcast purposes”.

Confess to one another and pray for each other so that we will be healed of whatever weakness and be restored. Bible says that the fervent and effectual prayer of a believer availeth much, meaning it is far reaching and produces great results. Let’s utilise the tremendous power of prayer!

May we lift up prayers to support one another so we get ourselves restored in the Lord to enable all of us serve Him in joy and with gladness of heart. May the Lord help us to stand by each other at all times. Amen.

Quick to hear, Slow to speak and Slow to anger

Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving];

Thank God for His Word today, Apostle James is sharing some practical words with us. Be quick to hear requires us to show keen interest in people when they are speaking so we can receive and understand what they are saying. Some have said, we were given 2 ears so we can hear well and quickly! In order to deepen our understanding before speaking we can start by asking questions before making our point.

Likewise we have just one mouth so we need to properly process what we say, in that manner, we do not rush to speak. The scripture says that we should be slow to speak. We should be speakers of carefully chosen words, words that edify our hearers. Hallelujah!

Be slow to anger. This requires us to be patient in all situations, being reflective of the fact that Christ died to forgive us so we can forgive others too. We need to consciously make an effort to overcome this. The Lord is our help.

May Jehovah help us to live Christlike lives in Jesus Mighty name. May we be quick to hear, slow to speak and be slow to anger. May our lifestyles be the gospel that others read and draw closer to the Lord. Amen.

Show forth good deeds through Gentleness,Humility and Wisdom

Who among you is wise and intelligent? Let him by his good conduct show his [good] deeds with the gentleness and humility of true wisdom.

Praise and Thanks be to God for the gift of life and a beautiful day. Let’s rejoice and celebrate the goodness of the Lord today.

Wisdom comes from the Father above and He expects us to ask if we are in lack of it. Today’s scripture admonishes us to use the wisdom and intelligence we have received from God.

Our deeds and acts should reflect that we are people operating under the wisdom of God and so are well packaged with humility , gentleness and the true wisdom of God. God should be seen through our deeds.

May we exhibit God’s wisdom, gentleness and humility through our speech, deeds and acts in Jesus name. May the wisdom of God continue to make us outstanding and fruitful in all endeavours in Jesus Mighty name.Amen
