Caring for the Fatherless & Widows and staying Pure

Pure and unblemished religion [as it is expressed in outward acts] in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit and look after the fatherless and the widows in their distress, and to keep oneself uncontaminated by the [secular] world.
James 1:27 AMP

Praise and glory be unto God for this beautiful day and the opportunity to rejoice and be glad in it.

Today’s scripture highlights the importance of being a christian in practice and not by word only. It calls for us to put into action some of Jesus’ teachings in relation to supporting the poor.

Caring for the Fatherless and Widows is an act that God endorses and is happy with as in most cases the Fatherless and Widows are vulnerable in society. Let’s do this to put God’s word into practice.

May we not expect any human reward as care for these widows and fatherless but see it as our God given responsibility.

May the Lord help us to put God’s word into practice and keep ourselves unblemished by the systems of the world. May our giving bring blessings and the love of God to others in Jesus Mighty name. Amen

Blessed is the one that endures Temptations

Blessed [happy, spiritually prosperous, favored by God] is the man who is steadfast under trial and perseveres when tempted; for when he has passed the test and been approved, he will receive the [victor’s] crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
JAMES 1:12 AMP

Praise, glory and adoration be unto God for this beautiful day and the opportunity to rejoice and be glad in it.

This morning Apostle James is telling us that God rewards abundantly the one who stands firm and faces trials and tribulations that come his or her way.

As children of the Most High God, we will experience some trials and temptations on this journey, our reaction or response to this is very important. Today’s scripture encourages every child of God to stand firm in times of trials so we don’t miss out the blessings of the Lord.

The blessings include being spiritually prosperous, favour from God and an ultimate victor’s crown of life! We must stay steadfast, we must persevere to the end to receive this crown, leave no room to fall by the roadside.

May the Lord help us to stay strong and steadfast no matter the challenge that comes our way. May we be approved by the Lord as worthy and faithful servants so we don’t miss out the victor’s crown of life in Jesus Mighty name.

Let us be Doers of the Word of God

But prove yourselves doers of the word [actively and continually obeying God’s precepts], and not merely listeners [who hear the word but fail to internalize its meaning], deluding yourselves [by unsound reasoning contrary to the truth]. For if anyone only listens to the word without obeying it, he is like a man who looks very carefully at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he immediately forgets what he looked like.
James 1:22‭-‬24 AMP

Glory and honour be unto God for this beautiful day and the opportunity to worship and praise His holy name.

Today’s scripture emphasises the importance of not only listening to the Word of God but to obey and DO what the Word says. That is to internalize the Word of God.

The Word of God therefore requires that we act and live by what is written therein. Merely listening to the Word of God and not abiding by it is more or less wasting our time.

The Word of God is active and alive so once we live according to what is written therein we place our trust in the Lord and live a life of Faith. To obey is better than to sacrifice.

May the Lord help us to continually live and abide by the Word of God. May we not be only hearers of the Word but active practitioners of the Living Word of God in Jesus Mighty name. Amen

Go to God and Ask for Wisdom

If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him.
JAMES 1:5 AMP

Praise be to God for this beautiful day which is the last day of the first month of the year. The joy of the Lord be with you throughout your day and cause your day to be prosperous.

The bible says that Wisdom is the principal thing! You cannot survive in this life without wisdom. Thanks be to God who is ever ready to provide the wisdom we need for our lives.

Today’s scripture says that we should ask God for the wisdom we need so that we can take proper decisions that will guide our lives. It should not be for only major decisions in life but all the little things that we need guidance, let’s ask God for Wisdom.

He is a benevolent God who will give the wisdom generously without rebuke or blame. May we go freely to God for Wisdom to make our daily living smooth!

May Wisdom dwell with us throughout this life, May it be tied around our necks and placed in our hearts and minds so all our steps and decisions are guided by it in Jesus Mighty name. Amen.

Draw near to God and He will be near to you

Come close to God [with a contrite heart] and He will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; and purify your [unfaithful] hearts, you double-minded [people].
JAMES 4:8 AMP

Hallelujah! Glory and honour be unto God for this beautiful day. May the joy and gladness of the day fill our hearts.

Today’s scripture says that we should draw near to God and God will draw near to us once we cleanse our minds and hearts of any sins and double mindedness.

What a condition to get God closer to you! Wash your hands you sinners and purge/purify your hearts you double minded people so that God can come close to us,Wow!

In this same book of James, the scriptures have indicated that because of double mindedness we don’t receive from the Lord when we ask. It is therefore important that we completely deal with double mindedness, get our hearts and our hands “clean” so we can get God closer to us.

Father we ask for mercy and grace to be able to live to please you so that as we draw closer to you, you will be with us throughout the days of our lives in Jesus Mighty name. Amen.

Good gifts from Above

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes].

(JAMES 1:17 AMP)
We are grateful to God that He gives us the grace and strength to go about our daily activities. 
This morning the scripture reminds us that it is not by our strength or power that we have what we own now. All the things  we possess that we consider good/better/best are blessings from the Father above!
We acknowledge you goodness Most High God for embarrassing us with unique and diverse gifts starting with the gift of life (mainly the air that we breathe).
Be exalted Father, we appreciate you for the lovely gifts we have received and the ones that are on their way. They’re so adorable and we love them. 
Praise be to your name that you don’t discriminate in your gift giving. Glory! Glory! Glory!
Thank you Father for my good, better and best gifts that are the way to me.

Getting Rid of Uncleanness in our Lives

“So get rid of all uncleanness and all that remains of wickedness, and with a humble spirit receive the word [of God] which is implanted [actually rooted in your heart], which is able to save your souls.”
(JAMES 1:21 AMP)

 
Jesus Christ came into this world to save us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. He came to set us free so that we will be free indeed.

 
It is therefore important to eschew any filth, evil or uncleanness from our lives.
Light and darkness cannot dwell together. The appearance of light dismisses darkness, so once Christ Jesus has come into your life all the filth must be discarded. All previous lifestyles that are not pleasing to the Lord must be dealt with.

 
Let the Word of God take roots in your heart. This will be a standard for filtering and getting rid of any uncleanness in our lives. May the Word of God richly dwell in us to shape our lives.
