Where is your treasure and Heart?

for where your treasure is, there your heart [your wishes, your desires; that on which your life centers] will be also.

Today’s scripture is a continuation of a teaching by our Lord Jesus Christ about the importance of placing our Trust in God rather than the things of this earth. What is preoccupying our hearts?

Where your treasure is determines where your heart is. This is what Jesus taught. Are we placing our trust in the Lord or in the possessions that we have acquired here on earth? We need to be careful that after God has blessed us with the things we asked for they do not replace God in our lives.

Heavenly Father help us to place our absolute trust in you and not to trust in the earthly treasures you have blessed us with. May we live and move and have our being in you only in Jesus Mighty name. Amen

Do not store up for yourself material treasures on earth

“Do not store up for yourselves [material] treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
Matthew 6:19 AMP

Hallelujah be unto God for this beautiful day and the opportunity to rejoice and be glad in it.

Jesus taught us not to store up for ourselves material treasures here on earth during His Sermon on the Mount. It doesn’t mean that we should not get any property here on earth. The caution is about not putting our trust in the material things we acquire.

What are the things we cherish in our heart? Is God and His Kingdom our most treasured and valuable possession or that sleek vehicle or that gorgeous mansion? Moth and rust can destroy our earthly treasures! Let us reconsider our priorities.

Our treasures should be heaven based where they are eternal, the rust and moth cannot destroy it. We must deeply cherish the things of God, our love and service to God must be the paramount thing.

Father we acknowledge that it is in you that we live and move and have our being, help us to focus on you rather than the things of this world.

Most High God help us to build up resources in Heaven where we shall be rewarded. Grant us the grace to place you first in all things in Jesus Mighty name. Amen.
