“Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light.”
— Genesis 1:3 (NKJV)
Glory and honour be unto the Most High God, who created the world by the power of His Word. Hallelujah!
Today’s verse takes us to the very beginning of Scripture, where God initiated His work of creation. The very first thing He did was to call forth light. And when He spoke, light appeared and separated the darkness.
This was the beginning of order in God’s creation. Light laid the foundation for everything else God would make. After all, humanity could not have existed in the total darkness that once covered the earth.
“Let there be light” also reveals the creative power of God, unmatched by any other. It symbolizes the beginning of clarity, purpose, and direction, as well as the separation of good from evil. The light of God brings salvation, healing, and deliverance. Therefore, we must always seek the light and remain connected to it.
Jesus Christ came as the Light of the World—to lead us out of the darkness and into the glorious Kingdom of God.
May the light of God guide us daily. As we walk in the light Christ has provided, may every form of darkness be removed from our lives. May we experience the creative power of God in every area of our lives, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
