Matthew 20:28 (AMP)
“Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many [paying the price to set them free from the penalty of sin].”
Glory and honour be unto the Most High God! This is the day that the Lord has made, so let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Today’s scripture is the very words of Jesus, a direct charge to every follower of Christ. Our Lord, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, came down to earth and chose to live a humble life. He came not to be served, but to serve, and ultimately to lay down His life for us all. He became a servant to all, and in doing so, gave us the highest example of true greatness.
The key to greatness is service.
As followers of Christ, we are to strive to serve faithfully wherever we find ourselves, especially in the house of the Lord. The Son of God came to serve and gave His life as a ransom; we, too, must be ready to roll up our sleeves and serve with diligence and joy.
Let us not wait to be called upon, let us seek out opportunities to serve the Master and advance His Kingdom. Service may require sacrifice, but in that sacrifice is the greatest reward.
Let us get ready to pay the price in service to the Lord. Let’s serve the Lord with joy and gladness and receive the blessing that comes with obedience and humility.
May we be found as worthy and faithful servants wherever God places us. May we carry the mantle of sacrificial service and follow Christ’s example with unwavering devotion. May the Lord be our help, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
